About The Reese Project
The Reese Project is a non-profit dedicated to ensuring pets receive life-saving emergency veterinary care, regardless of their family’s financial situation. We were founded from the belief that no animal should suffer or lose their life because essential treatment often requires high upfront payments that owners cannot provide.
Our organization exists to close the critical gap between urgent need and financial ability, a gap that currently forces far too many families into losing the lives of pets who could have been saved.
Our mission is to prevent the unnecessary loss of pets by providing financial assistance for life-saving emergency veterinary care when treatment is critical and owners have no ability to pay.
We will work directly with treating veterinarians to verify emergencies, review recommended care, and fund life-saving treatment when families cannot afford upfront or total costs. Once operational funding allows, payments will be made directly to veterinary clinics for approved cases.
We assist families who:
Have a pet facing a life-threatening medical emergency
Cannot afford payment for treatment
Is denied for CareCredit and ScratchPay, or whose necessary veterinary costs exceed their approved limits
Have a veterinarian confirming the emergency and recommended treatment
Need immediate assistance to prevent suffering or death.
Our goal is to support families at their most vulnerable moments: when minutes matter and help is out of reach.
Our Values
Compassion: All pets deserve life-saving treatment
Integrity: Donations will be used responsibly and transparently
Urgency: We promise to respond to requests for help as soon as possible, 7 days a week, 365 days a year
Accountability: All aid will be documented, verified, and monitored
Equity: We assist without judgement, for families of all backgrounds
Community: We stand behind pet owners when they have nowhere else to turn
How We Operate
All requests for assistance must come with proof of the emergent state. This can be done via photo for visible cases (ex. broken bones, hit by car, etc.) For non-visible cases, we will call the practicing veterinarians office to confirm pets status.
All funds will be paid directly to the treating clinic, never to individuals.
Cases are reviewed based on urgency, financial need, and survivability.
Donations, grants, and fundraising efforts go toward providing emergency medical aid and maintaining the systems required to deliver that care quickly and responsibly.
